KTVgifts - Police Officer service patch frames
My name is Victoria, I am the owner of KTVgifts – Custom Police and Firefighter Frames, I am a Police Sergeant’s Wife and a member of Wives Behind the Badge.
The inspiration for the design of the very first frame came when I was dating my husband. While digging out his career scrapbook, an errant file fell from the top shelf of the closet onto the floor between us in a cloud of dust. A poem fell out. I picked it up and read it. As an artist first and, at the time, a professional marketer, I was both touched and inspired by the words. My husband acknowledged that he wrote those words after a fellow officer’s funeral. That poem is “True Colors”. “And you keep this in a crusty old file?” I asked, “Surely you are not the only Cop that feels this way…………let’s do something with this.”
His writing and my artwork eventually led to the first ‘Patch’ frame. Then before I could even take a picture my dear husband gave my prototype to a fellow officer at his retirement party. When he presented my prototype to his colleague a strange and unexpected thing happened – this big, tough cop who had successfully survived his career, who’d spent twenty-five years dodging all manner of life ending paraphernalia, bravely and dutifully – first read the poem then looked at his framed service patch then shed genuine tears.
Then, like a virus, officers from my husbands department wanted frames, then their friends at other departments wanted frames, and from the trunk of my car a business was started.
These frames are not mass-produced or mass-marketed and never will be. Many hours were spent selecting components; the frame, the mats, the images, to create an item that wouldn’t just showcase a poem or just display a service patch, but would be an extension of the poem and a representation of the service patch to become the whole personality if this profession.
If you’ve visited my website you’ve had an opportunity to view the police officer frames I’ve felt honored to create. I feel as honored and proud, maybe even more so, to be given the opportunity to help create this very special Wives Behind The Badge frame. A police officer’s wife’s role in this profession is as integral and significant and his walking out the door to protect and serve. The wives aren’t issued a sidearm so we don’t get the stripes either. But that’s okay – we will now have a frame to hang next to our husbands – and we know what we do.
