Tabitha Youngstrom ~ President

Tabitha Youngstrom joined Wives Behind the Badge in 2011 as the California Special Events Coordinator.  She is the proud wife of a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy, a mother of three beautiful girls, and resides in Souther California.  She currently works as an Operations Assistant II for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and has always been committed to community service, volunteering her time in various charity events and creating new ones with her department and Wives Behind the Badge.  As a 20 year veteran wife, Tabitha is passionate about helping others wade through the rough waters of law enforcement life and enjoys lending an ear or hand in whatever is asked of her.  She has already made a huge impact on our organization and the Auxiliary Program. ~ Email Tabitha 

Brooke Freeman ~ Vice President

Brooke joined Wives Behind the Badge as Treasurer in March 2013 and also serves as the Central California Auxiliary Director.  She is the proud wife of a deputy sheriff in Stanislaus County, CA – she is also employed for the county as an accountant.  Brooke and her husband have two young boys and a Dutch shepherd.  While Brooke offers a tremendous amount of professional savvy to WBTB, she also brings a heart of gold.  Her initial search for support after being a part of two line of duty deaths within a small window of time brought her to Wives Behind the Badge.  Her assistance in the planning of those funerals was what opened her heart to reaching out and helping other law enforcement families in need. ~ Email Brooke

Melisa Cross ~ Secretary

Melisa Cross joined Wives Behind the Badge in January 2012 as the Oklahoma Auxiliary Director.  She is the proud wife of the Chief of Police for the Lahoma Police Department in Lahoma, Oklahoma.  They are parents to four teenage boys.  Melisa is a stay at home mom, which allows her to focus her energy on WBTB and on her various roles as the Western Auxiliary Assistant, Forums Big Sister and Blue Line Kids Moderator, Secretary and Magazine Editor.  Melisa is a master at multitasking, mediation and bringing a smile to any situation she faces.  She is a valuable asset to WBTB and has been instrumental in all areas of the organization.  ~ Email Melisa

Rose Winick ~ Treasurer

As the wife of a police sergeant in Southern California, Rose Winick found herself in need of advice and support she could only get from other police wives.  She decided to form her own support system by starting an online support forum in 2006.  That forum quickly grew to over 200 members from across the nation, Canada, England and Australia.  Over the years, Wives Beind the Badge received numerous rquests for financial support and other resources from police families and law enforcement agencies.  Rose and her all-volunteer staff were called into action and Wives Behind the Badge became a non-profit dedicated to helping police families across the country.  ~ Email Rose

Amanda Pekarek ~ Board Member

Amanda Pekarek has been a member of Wives Behind the Badge since 2009 and first appeared on the Board of Directors in 2010.  She is married to a deputy sheriff in Northern California where they reside with their three children.  She currently runs her own home based business and is thankful it allows her the time to dedicate to Wives Behind the Badge.  Along with her duties as VP, Amanda is currently the HALOS coordinator.  Her passion for supporting law enforcement families shows in her dedication to the law enforcement community.  ~ Email Amanda

Mendi Keatts ~ Chaplain

Mendi Keatts has been a member of Wives Behind the Badge since 2007 and has been acting as our Member Liasion and Chaplain since 2009.  She joined our board of directors in 2012 and is also the Director of our Virginia Auxiliary Committee.  In addition to all the time she donates to WBTB, Mendi works as the Director of Youth and Director of Christian Education at her church and has recently graduated with her masters in mental health counseling.  She is the proud wife of a Roanoke Police Officer and a mother to three amazing kids.  Mendi is eager to help law enforcement families succeed in their emotional health and has already helped her local officers by providing training to their families.  ~ Email Mendi 

LaDonna Kay ~ National Volunteer Coordinator

LaDonna Kay came to Wives Behind the Badge in June of 2011 through our forums where she immediately began making friends and getting noticed.  In 2012, after researching support in her area and found it to be lacking, LaDonna stepped forward in the brave venture of forming the North Carolina Auxiliary.  This was only the beginning, as her talent for organization would prove to be invaluable.  She was swiftly promoted to National Volunteer Coordinator.  LaDonna joined the Board in 2013 and has already made an impact.  Her husband is a former soldier who served in Iraq in 2003.  He is now a Master Deputy with Wake County Sheriff's Office and has been with the department for over eight years.  They have a beautiful, spunky daughter who serves as the light of their lives. ~ Email LaDonna

Coreen Kachermeyer ~ Member-at-Large

Coreen Kachermeyer joined Wives Behind the Badge in 2008 while looking for others that understood the life of a police wife.  In 2009, she became a big sister in the forums to help others on their journey and joined the Board in 2013.  Coreen started dating her upstate New York police officer his first week on road patrol and they never looked back.  In addition to her work with WBTB, she works as an insurance broker who specializes in contractors and churches.  She also works with her local figure skating program teaching young kids the sport she loves.  In her spare time, Coreen enjoys knitting and spinning her own yarn.  She is looking forward to serving the law enforcement community. ~ Email Coreen

Cara Pfeuffer ~ Member-at-Large

Cara Pfeuffer has been a member of Wives Behind the Badge since 2009 and joined the Board in 2013.  She is the proud veteran wife of a Jacksonville Police Officer.  Theyhave been married for twenty years and have four children – two boys and two girls.  Cara's husband has been an officer in Jacksonville for twelve years and previously worked with a Sheriff's department in South Florida for years.  He is currently a K9 officer with his partner Mako, a Belgian Malinois.  Cara worked for an assisten living facility for seven years where she loved her job and residents.  She will offer invaluable insight for our K.A.R.E. program. ~ Email Cara

Brandi Ober ~ Forums Coordinator

Brandi joined Wives Behind the Badge through our forums in 2007.  She was quickly brought on as Forums Coodinator and joined the Board in 2013.  Brandi is married to a K9 officer in Deleware and they have three furbabies: Samson, Delilah and the K9, Ary.  They recently became first-time parents to their very own beautiful baby girl.  ~ Email Brandi

Juli McCoy ~ Board Member

Juli joined Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. in October 2012 and quickly became an active member of the forums. She wears several hats within the organization as a Grants Officer, Director of Marketing and Public Affairs, National Website Coordinator and proudly joined the Board of Directors in November 2013. Juli brings knowledge of non-profit management, as well as leadership qualities that have been developed through years of serving her local community in several capacities. Juli is married to Jason, a Pfc with an agency in Maryland; together they have two beautiful daughters. ~ Email Juli
